This piece came at the request of a woman’s church group who wanted to uplift a young grieving widow with a home portrait reflecting the story of her life with her husband, their faith, the promise of Life to come… To me, this image of a loving couple beside a cottage reflects the beginning of a new chapter in life, warmed by promise..

  1. Visiting here was like a mini-vacation! I lingered over and savored every picture!

I didn’t realize you take photographs of people and sketch them. You have given me another wonderful Christmas present idea!! When my daughter and son-in-law have are finally settled in their own place, it would be so special to have a drawing of their daughter (my granddaughter) for their home.

And I LOVE the idea of a Scripture verse to accompany the picture.

Once i get organized, I will definitely contact you! 🙂

Oh how God has gifted you!

    1. Thank you so much, Karen. Yes, I’ve just begun to do a lot of drawings of children and others (you can see more in my “all things childhood,” “baby portraits,” “valentines,” and “From Family and Vintage” — I wouldn’t say they always come out as exact as a photo, but God does seem to be enabling me to really get good likeness. 🙂 I look forward to hearing more when you are ready…
So glad this is like a mini vacation to you! I just yesterday drew the top one of the French Country window scene…

  3. How lovely each one is, Pam. As I pondered “The Scarlet and the White” God reminded me of Christ’s Blood as scarlet/crimson and that He washed us white as snow. Yes, that is what He does with His bride…His church. Not only is your drawing beautiful but the gift of Christ is the most beautiful of all. Thankful that you are my neighbor at Jennifer’s tonight.

    1. Thankful for you and your words here and on my writing blog, Linda! You echo the Holy Spirit thoughts that my friend Diane wrote on her own blog about that church (where I found the photo I used to draw that one) – beautiful truths about His Blood and how He uses beauty around us to remind us … 🙂

    1. Thank you so much, Ifeoma. I do love drawing in an illustration style, and although I can and do imagine out of my head, I’m best when I have a photo or something to work from. Best to you in your children’s stories! Have you submitted them to a publisher? A common misconception is that you need to have illustrations up front, but actually publishers typically do choose an illustrator for a written work that they purchase… So I encourage you not to wait on submitting the stories by themselves. :). Blessings!
